Not sure if Arnold will ‘be back’ after this one

The Governor of California, also famous as The Terminator may not make it back as governor after this.  There seems to be a budget deficit and he is proposing to lower all state workers wages to California minimum wage.  Not too bad an idea if he does the same thing to his salary.  If you really look at it, they will receive their back pay once a new budget is approved so it just means they buy less suntan lotion and less Starbucks coffee which won’t be too hard for them to do since Starbucks is closing about 600 coffee shops.

Stem cell therapy

I know stem cell therapy is a hot topic to a lot of people.  I think research into it is wonderful.  The stem cells hold the key to curing many diseases that are otherwise incurable or so many experts seem to think.  A lot of people thank that stem cell research will cause more women to have abortions but I don’t think one has anything to do with the other.  Women are going to have abortions for one reason or another and I don’t think stem cell research has nothing to do what so ever with that decision.  If more hospitals would or could harvest the stem cells from the umbilical cords of the babies that are born in their hospitals, we would have a great deal of them to conduct research with but the cords are simply discarded.  Some parents are having them harvested in case the child has a life threatening disease but it is not made readily known to most parents.

There is another way to harvest stem cells. Visit C’elle and you will find a new way a woman can collect her own stem cells through her normal monthly cycle.  It is a new method that will allow the collection of women’s stem cells to be used if she ever faces a life threatening disease.  The best part is these cells may even be able to be used by her parents, siblings and her children along with herself.  Stem cells fight heart disease, stroke, Alzheimer’s disease, Parkinson’s disease and much more.  We really don’t know the extent of what stem cells can help cure or at least improve the quality of life in some diseases.  Through the stem cells, we could possibly find a cure for HIV, AIDS, and other diseases we haven’t even thought of preventing or possible cures for.

Starbucks losing big bucks

On the cover page of Yahoo news is an article about how Starbucks is going to close up to 600 stores this year and over 12,000 jobs will be lost. Sounds to me like Starbucks just priced themselves out of business.  Who can afford a $5 cup of coffee when gas is over $4 a gallons?  Someone with Starbucks needs to realize this and adjust their coffees, pricing or something if they want to remain open, you think?  Just another sign of the struggling economic times I would say.

Bright man

Each year from the 9th grade on, about 10% of that class drops out. In today’s market place, a high school diploma is not a luxury, it’s an absolute necessity.  There aren’t many jobs that don’t at least require a high school diploma anymore.  Nashville, Tennessee’s new mayor ran on a ticket that was all about the public schools and the high dropout rate that this county and several of the neighboring counties are experiencing.  So the goal of their new mayor is to attack that dropout rate.

The new mayor assigned a special task force on education to look into what could be done to combat this.  They came back with two answers to the problem: pay teachers more money and hire more guidance counselors.  That indeed may help but it’s not an answer to the problems in our schools. Maybe they all need to go back to school and they might learn a thing or two, ya think???  All that money he wasted on nothing when it could have gone into something that really might have helped.

Asset Protection

With all the new ‘toys’ my buddies and I have been buying lately, Sweetie is thinking we need some asset protection.  I don’t know what would make her think that.  It’s not like I’m spending everything I make on my fun and games.  I do spend it on her too.

I couldn’t believe she found belize bank.  It is located in Costa Rica.  I had no idea that Sweetie had any knowledge of things like this and maybe this web site is what educated her.  I do know it if full of all sorts of information to help you protect your money.  I also know with all the financial troubles a lot of mortgage companies and banks seem to be having right now, it might not be a bad idea to really check into what Asset Protection Group International has to offer.  Sweetie is good with numbers after all, she’s an accountant and I should have known she would find what we needed.  That’s why I’ll keep her around a lot longer!!!
