What if you could develop a mindset and change everything – a wealth mindset!
At 38, I was drowning in debt, stuck in a job I hated, and recently fired by my best friend.
Two years later, I made my first million.
This isn’t just another “how to become rich” success story.
It’s an honest look at why most people never build wealth, and how to join that 1%.
This is about how you can flip the script with one powerful shift: developing a wealth mindset.
The Trap Most People Fall Into
When I was broke, I blamed everything around me.
The economy.
My boss.
My life.
And even bad luck.
Deep down, I believed what 99% of people believe:
- “It’s safer to play it safe.”
- “You need money to make money.”
- “It’s too late to start.”
- “The system is rigged.”
But all that thinking only kept me stuck.
It kept me broke.
It kept me small.
It kept me bitter.
And the scariest part?
It felt normal because most people around me thought the same way.
What the 1% Do Differently
Everything changed when I stopped thinking like the 99% and started feeling, thinking, and acting like the 1%.
The difference wasn’t money. It was a mindset.
Here’s how the wealthy think:
They take 100% responsibility. No blaming. No excuses. Just ownership.
They create value. Instead of fighting over a small piece of pie, they learn how to bake more pies.
They invest in assets. The 99% buy things and stuff that lose value. The 1% buy things that pay them: real estate, stocks, businesses, and skills.
They delay gratification. The 1% don’t need to flex right away. They invest first. Enjoy later. Then repeat.
They never stop learning. Wealthy people are constantly upgrading their knowledge. They read, take courses, and surround themselves with smart people.
The key to building wealth isn’t found in luck, college degrees, or perfect timing.
It starts with rewiring your beliefs.
A Simple Wealth Action Plan (That Anyone Can Start)
If you want to build a wealth mindset and actually join the 1%, here’s where to start:
1. Set a clear goal with a deadline.
Mine was simple: “Become a millionaire by 40.”
Not “someday.”
Not “maybe.”
Put it on paper. Give it a date.
2. Audit your mindset.
Write down every negative belief you have about money.
“I’m not good with money.”
“Rich people are greedy.”
“Making money is hard.”
Then challenge each one. Replace them with beliefs that actually serve you.
3. Start investing—even if it’s $50.
It’s not the amount. It’s the habit.
Every dollar invested is a seed.
And small, consistent seeds grow forests.
4. Upgrade your circle.
This one’s big.
Surround yourself with people who think big, act bold, and talk about ideas, not people.
Mentors, masterminds, and even free online communities can change your trajectory.
5. Take daily action.
One step a day. That’s it.
Read 10 pages of a wealth-building book.
Listen to a podcast.
Invest $20.
Make that sales call.
Small daily actions add up—and fast.
So… Will You Be the 1%?
Here’s the truth most people don’t want to hear:
The difference between the rich and everyone else isn’t luck or background.
It’s a mindset and action.
That’s it.
If you’ve been wondering how to become rich, here’s your answer:
Start thinking like someone who already is.
Act like the future version of yourself who’s already there.
Build your wealth mindset—and back it up with action.
You already have everything you need to start.
The only question is: will you?
If this article hit home, then I invite you to check out my free downloadable guide that shares the 4-step decision formula I used to go from broke to millionaire in just two years. It’s free and it’s yours to use.
And remember, you don’t need a miracle.
You need a plan.
And a mindset to match it.
Let’s go.
Love,
Jim
